Donald Everhardt, 25, of Bellefontaine, was charged with drunk driving and a number of moving violations following a traffic stop initiated by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department around 2:40 a.m. Thursday, March 2, near the intersection of west Chillicothe Avenue and south Detroit Street.
Officers on routine patrol observed Everhardt exit the angled parking lot on west Columbus Avenue without its headlights or tail lights on. Officers observed the vehicle cross the median while turning the vehicle and initiated the traffic stop.
Upon making contact with Everhardt, signs of alcohol-related impairment were observed, and the suspect conceded to police he was “buzzin.”
Field sobriety tests were conducted, but not successfully completed. Everhardt was transported to the police station where a breath test showed a blood-alcohol level at .201. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was released to a sober person.
