Christopher Socks, 45, of Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and multiple marked lanes violations following a traffic stop executed around 3 a.m. Sunday, June 25, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department along south Troy Road. near wet Lake Avenue.

Officers on patrol observed the vehicle the defendant was driving travel across the center line and overcorrect, nearly traveling off the right side of the roadway.

Speeds nearly double the posted 25 mph limit were also recorded, officers report, as the vehicle continued to weave back and forth along the roadway.

Upon making contact with Socks, signs of alcohol impairment were observed, and the defendant reportedly told police he would “rather not” attempt a series of field sobriety tests.

He was arrested and transported to the police department where he also declined to provide a breath sample. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, speed and violation of marked lanes. He was released to a sober driver.

• June Barnes, 57, of Marysville, charged with OVI following a traffic stop conducted about 2 a.m. Saturday, June 24, in the area of the 200 block of east Spring Avenue.
Officers on patrol observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling south Detroit Street near west Auburn Avenue commit a number of marked lanes violations, including an improper turn and crossing the center line.
A traffic stop was initiated and the defendant admitted to having consumed vodka and two or three margaritas previously in the evening. Field sobriety tests were not successful. Barnes did submit to a breath test, which registered a .147 blood-alcohol content. He was cited and then released to a sober driver.
