Ashley Reed, 40, of Bellefontaine, was charged with drunk driving, along with a series of marked lanes violations and was ultimately jailed for her own safety following a traffic stop initiated around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, July 9, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Officers on patrol observed the vehicle operated by Reed commit a number of improper turns in the area of west Sandusky Avenue near Pratt Street. While following the defendant, officers also observed her nearly strike a curb after turning onto Everett Street.

A traffic stop was initiated eventually on eastbound west Sandusky Avenue.
Reed displayed obvious signs of impairment, including heavily slurred speech, and was unable to complete field sobriety tests. In her pockets, officers found suspected marijuana and related paraphernalia.

She was transported to the police department where a breath test was conducted and registered a .185 blood-alcohol content.

Reed was initially released to a sober person, her husband. However, a short time later Reed returned to police department on foot and told law enforcement he was being mean to her and that she got out of the vehicle and walked back to the police department.

She was lodged in the Logan County Jail on a charge of public intoxication.
