The Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave., is opening part of its church facility as an emergency overnight warming shelter for the winter of 2024-25, for evenings when the temperature drops below 20 degrees.
Wednesday, Dec. 11, will be the first evening for the warming shelter. The shelter will be open Thursday, Dec. 12, as well.
Intake is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the youth center entrance, door 9.
The shelter will need to be vacated by 6 a.m. in the mornings, due to child care operations at the church.
There will likely be a transitional warming shelter opening in the mornings from 6 to 8 a.m. at another nearby church, with details still being finalized.
