RAYMOND — One man died and another sustained serious injures in a two-vehicle crash about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at State Route 347 and Lunda Road.
Micheal Lee Shroat, 55, of Ostrander, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers of the Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol report.
Shroat was driving an orange 2020 Honda HRV eastbound on S.R. 347 when his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door area by a southbound black 2010 Mazda CX7 on Lunda Road that failed to stop at a stop sign, according to preliminary crash reports.
After impact, the Honda traveled off the south side of the road and struck a tree. The Mazda went off the east edge of Lunda Road before coming to rest.
The Mazda’s driver, Matthew W. Kauser, 39, of Marysville, was reported in serious condition at the scene was transported by North Western EMS to the Union County Memorial Hospital in Marysville.
Troopers were assisted by Union County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Division, Union County Coroner’s Office, North Western Fire & EMS, Kirby’s Towing and Kevin’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
