One person was transported Tuesday, Feb. 25, from the scene of a four-vehicle, rear-end collision that occurred along the 2700 block of Jefferson Township Road 179.
Hunter Cramer, 18, of West Liberty, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead following the crash, deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report. Cramer reportedly was southbound around 2:52 p.m. on T.R. 179 when he struck the rear of a green 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Naaman Stidham, 17, of West Liberty. The impact set off a chain reaction involving two other vehicles.
A red 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Tessla Woolum, 20, of Bellefontaine, stopped in the roadway for a vehicle backing a trailer into a driveway. A 1987 gray Jeep Cherokee, driven by Angel Shook, 18, of Saint Paris, was stopped behind Woolum’s vehicle, followed by Stidham’s truck.
Cramer’s pickup truck reportedly crested a hill and was unable to stop before colliding with Stidham’s pickup, which then struck Shook’s Jeep, pushing it into Woolum’s Malibu.
Shook sustained possible minor injuries and was transported by Tri-Valley Fire and EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Woolum’s Malibu and Stidham’s F-250 sustained functional damage. Cramer’s Dodge Ram was also towed due to disabling damage. No other injuries were reported.
