Two Ohio Hi-Point students attended the SkillsUSA Regional Officer Training Institute at Deer Creek Lodge Jan. 17-18.

As newly elected SkillsUSA Southwest Regional Officers, Weston Helman, a Graphic and Media Arts junior from Graham High School, and Caleb Parker, a Criminal Justice junior from Indian Lake High School, joined other regional officers from around the state to work on team building, leadership skills, as well as presentations and competitions at the training.

During the event, the SkillsUSA Southwest Regional team secured a gold medal in legislation advocacy, a silver in opening and closing ceremonies, and a bronze in the Goodwill visit.

Weston and Caleb also earned their “Statesman Award,” which is the highest award you can earn at the regional officer training.

The training institute provided an opportunity for skill development, competition, and camaraderie among all regional officers.

“We’re extremely proud of Wes and Caleb and how they represented Ohio Hi-Point, SkillsUSA, and themselves,” said Brad Richardson, Ohio Hi-Point assistant superintendent. “This was a great opportunity for them to showcase their leadership skills and get to know other students from around the state.”
