Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department responded at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, to multiple reports of shots fired in the area of the 200 to 400 block of east Chillicothe Avenue.
No injuries were reported during officers’ response and time on the scene Tuesday night.
While searching the area, officers were flagged down by a woman in the 300 block of east Chillicothe Ave., who noted that the sounds of shots fired was closer to south Park Street and east Chillicothe Avenue.
Officers began patrolling on foot and met with a man walking in the area, who pointed out a shell casing in the road. The man told offers he heard three to four shots fired and then a car door closed at approximately 9:10 p.m.
Officers then found two additional shell casings in the 200 block of south Park Street, and then closed the road to traffic.
BPD detectives and the K9 unit also responded to help process the scene.
Officers continue to investigate.
