UPDATE: Officer, Dispatcher of the Year awards highlight service at BPD

UPDATE: The Bellefontaine Police Department posthumously awarded a Hero Award to recently retired K-9 Boodik, who passed Jan. 26 away after a short battle with cancer.

Earlier this week, the Bellefontaine Police Department recognized outstanding service and dedication during its annual Awards Ceremony, honoring sworn officers, dispatchers, civilians and volunteers for their contributions to public safety and community service.

Officer of the Year honors were presented to Officer Kollin Stollar, who was nominated by his peers. Stollar is a two-year veteran of the department and joined the agency after several years of service with the Kenton Police Department. Colleagues cited his professionalism, work ethic and commitment to the community in selecting him for the award.

The Dispatcher of the Year award went to Dispatcher Amanda Metz, also nominated by her peers. Metz is an 11-year veteran of the department and was recognized for her calm demeanor, reliability and critical role in supporting officers and the public during emergency and non-emergency situations.

The BCPAAA Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Pete and Bobbi Yarchak in recognition of their continued volunteer service and support of the department.

The BCPAAA Volunteer of the Year Awards were presented to Pete and Bobbi Yarchak.

The Civilian Meritorious Service Award was awarded to John Steinhelfer of Aunalytics for his assistance and contributions that have supported department operations.

Several individual service and specialty awards were also presented:

  • Special Response Team Operator Award (5 years): Sgt. Andrew Purk

  • Field Training Officer Award: Officer Devin Fowler

  • Military Service Ribbon: Officer Blake Parris (U.S. Marine Corps)

In addition, the department recognized personnel reaching significant service milestones through 2025:

30 years of service

  • School Resource Officer Doug Walters

  • Dispatcher Angie Hall

25 years of service

  • Lt. Jason Lapp

10 years of service

  • Sgt. Andrew Purk

  • Officer Blaine Dixon

  • Detective Tanner Peterson

  • Detective Jake Siekierka

5 years of service

  • Officer Morgan Bango

Department leaders thanked all award recipients and honorees for their dedication, professionalism and continued commitment to serving the Bellefontaine community.
