Andrew M. Stroud, 16, of Lewistown, was cited for failure to control relating to a non-injury crash Monday afternoon, May 1.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet Malibu on U.S. Route 33 in Lakeview about 4:25 p.m.

He reportedly failed to negotiate a right-hand turn onto north Oak Street and went off the roadway, striking a northbound stop sign on Oak Street and U.S. 33, along with a utility pole’s guide wires and a culvert, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing his seat belt.

ODOT was contacted regarding the stop sign, which was damaged and removed from the ground, and AES Ohio was contacted about the guide wires, deputies said.

• Deputies also responded about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 30, to a report of a minor crash involving a BMRT squad and a car in an alleyway in the area of 312 E. Buckeye St., Belle Center.

David S. Johns, 78, of Belle Center, reportedly was operating the BMRT squad and started to back up the vehicle, striking a 2013 Honda Accord behind him operated by Nancy E. Kipker, 78, of Bellefontaine.

No injuries were reported. Deputies said two squad members also were tending to a patient in the back of the ambulance. Damage was light to both vehicles and no citations were reported.

• Darlene M. Harp, 60, of Lakeview, was cited for a stop sign violation related to a non-injury crash Monday afternoon.

Deputies report Harp was operating a northbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado on Chickasaw Path about 1:30 p.m. and stopped at the stop sign at State Route 235. She then made a westbound turn onto S.R. 235 and struck a westbound 2011 Ford E-350 operated by Donald E. Sawmiller, 67, of St. Marys.

Deputies said Sawmiller’s vehicle was a bait delivery vehicle and the aerator unit was damaged in the crash. There were also minnows on the road next to the vehicle.

Damage was light to the Harp vehicle. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.
