It is with deep heartache that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Nikki Ann (Miner) Smith passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the age of 79 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, surrounded by family.

The hard-fought medical battle in the recent year has shown her courage and strength – always facing life challenges with grace, laughter, and a smile.

Nikki was born on April 6, 1944, to the late Phillip & Jean (Mayer) Miner, in Bellefontaine, OH. She married the love her of life, the late Jack Elden Smith, on November 19 th , 1963 and stayed madly in love until his passing in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her dear friend Helen Prater.

Nikki is survived by her two daughters, Jodi (Peanut) Robinson & Kaci Smith, as well as 9 grandkids – Cody, Katy (Stefanie), Daniel, Dustin (Aliyah), Katie (Matt), & Ben. She was an adored great-grandmother to 12 – Brady, Alexis, Arezlyn, Jayce, Maddie, Evan, Everly, Walker, Gage, Zoey, Jace & Cohen.

Nikki is the sister of Walter (Marcella) Miner & Marcia Miner, both surviving; as well as her sister-in-law Sara (Lew) Tracey & close family member Jennifer Lang. She is also survived by her closest friends – Lynda Arehart, Pat Harris, Cheryl Hawkins & her beloved fur baby Gracie Girl.

Nikki was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, OH. She worked and retired from Ohio Hi-Point Career Center after a long tenure.

With her giving heart, she was also an avid volunteer. She offered her time at Mary Rutan Hospital Guild; AmVets Post 39 Aux in Lakeview, OH where she served as Secretary; Board Member at the Logan County Historical Society; a Member of the Indian Lake Moose; Poll Worker for the Board of Elections, as well as the Census Bureau.

When she wasn’t spending time with her family and friends, Nikki thoroughly enjoyed both shopping and traveling.

She was a joy and a light to any and all that knew her, and while she is now at peace and free of her pain – her presence here on Earth will undoubtedly be missed dearly.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home, 5591 US-68 West Liberty, Ohio 43357. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service.  Memorial donations can be made to the Logan County Historical Society, 521 E. Columbus Ave., Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
