Night at the BMS Museum

In an effort to make history come alive for her students, Bellefontaine Middle School American history teacher Diann Jordan presented their inaugural Night at the Museum event on Friday, May 5 in the school gym. Jordan based the idea on the 2006 Ben Stiller movie.

About 47 students have been preparing for this presentation since the beginning of the school year, which included choosing a historical figure from between 1492 and 1877, writing an informational report, and creating a script for their person. Costs were covered through a $1,500 Mary Florence Sours grant, which was given by John Easton. Representing Paul Revere, Jamestown colonist Anne Burras and King George III are, from the left, eighth-grade students Alex Johnson, Alexis Varian and Alex Sandoval.

“It’s a great opportunity to make history fun and get kids involved,” Jordan said. “Especially those not normally involved in sports or theater.” (EXAMINER PHOTO | SHARYN KOPF)
