New fencing is set to be installed on the Logan County Fairgrounds ahead of this summer’s exhibition.
The Logan County Commissioners voted recently to approve the installation of new fencing at the Main Street entrance and along the newly cleared section on the north side of the fairgrounds. The budget for the project is not to exceed $75,000, according to the commisison’s vote.
Commissioners met recently with Logan County Fair Board president Rick Thomas and board member Jay Ackley to discuss the fencing proposal. Three quotes were provided for the work, including from Angles Nursery and Landscaping of Bellefontaine at $128,500; JSLF of Urbana at $193,831; and Five-Star Fencing of Belle Center at $198,955.20. Each quote included breakdowns by project phases.
Commissioners also approved a $2,500 expenditure to have the areas surveyed before the fencing is installed, and agreed that the new fencing at the Main Street entrance and the north side of the fairgrounds should be in place before the 2025 Logan County Fair.
While the approved budget covers only part of the full fencing project, it addresses the fair board’s immediate priorities for securing key areas of the property.
