A new chiller was installed at Bellefontaine High School during the district’s spring break.

A large crane removed the existing HVAC chiller from the “chiller yard” (near the Billy Jervis Spirit Rock) April 3. The crane then set the new chiller in its place.

The work is part of the ESSER III project started last summer.

The 22-year-old chiller was a 270-ton unit, and the new chiller is a 300-ton unit. The added capacity will assist in cooling the gymnasium.

Other projects planned for this summer include new classroom windows and several exterior doors being replaced.

ESSER III is a federally-funded $3.7 million project for facility repairs at BCS.
