A man having an apparent mental episode was arrested on outstanding warrant just before 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department found him in public without any clothes on.
Officers were dispatched around 9:50 a.m. to the 500 block of Ludlow Road on a report of a naked male wandering about.
Shannon VanHoose, 47, of Bellefontaine, was identified by a neighbor coming out of the creek area across the street. The neighbor gave VanHoose a blanket and contacted officers. VanHoose identified himself and where he lived, but could not explain why he didn’t have any clothes on.
Police met with the suspect’s girlfriend at their home, and she told police VanHoose suffers from mental health issues and she did not realize he had left the house naked.
A warrants check revealed that VanHoose was wanted by Sidney police for failing to appear in court on traffic charges. VanHoose dressed himself, was arrested on the warrant and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
