Corey Treen, 26, of Bellefontaine, was charged with impaired driving and issued a traffic citation following a 12:35 a.m. traffic stop executed Monday, Nov. 20, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department along north Main Street near Grove Road.
Officers patrolling southbound Main Street observed the defendant operating a northbound vehicle without functioning tail lights. Police turned around and began to follow the vehicle northbound. The defendant took multiple blocks before eventually pulling over, parking up on a curb as he stopped.
Upon making contact with Treen, officers report he was visibly intoxicated. He was unsteady on his feet, and his eyes were bloodshot and glossy. He admitted to having consumed several “tallboy” cans of beer and conceded that he was too drunk to drive.
Field sobriety tests were started, but Treen stopped attempting them after struggling through a couple.
He was taken to the police department and agreed to a breath test, which registered at 0.223.Treen was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for driving without tail lights. He was released to a sober person. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
