A motorist was charged with drunk driving Wednesday, March 12, after nearly striking a Washington Township police cruiser in the area of Indian Lake Schools.

Ashley Hill, 36, of Maplewood, was cited for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and for violations of marked lanes after an officer observed her vehicle nearly collide with the rear of his patrol car around 2:45 p.m. while conducting stationary patrol in the school zone. After narrowly avoiding the cruiser, Hill’s vehicle reportedly crossed left of center. A traffic stop was initiated at that time.

During the stop, officers noted signs of impairment. Hill reportedly struggled to stand and nearly fell multiple times after exiting the vehicle. She completed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Hill refused a urine test at the jail. She was cited and released to a sober driver.
