Chieftains drop matches
Bellefontaine lost to visiting London on Monday in middle school play.
London won the eighth grade match, 25-15, 25-17. For Bellefontaine, Gianna Davis had seven digs, Jazmin Nelson had two aces and Ellie Irick had five digs.
The seventh graders lost 25-14, 25-9. Braelyn Neer had four kills. Skylar Phan had eight service points and Arianna Rumer had four.
On Saturday, the eighth grade team lost to Jonathan Alder 25-16, 25-19.
Nelson had two aces, and Irick had three. Ellijana Bosiljavec and Brookelyn Oaks had three digs each.
The seventh graders lost 25-16, 25-6. Neer had three digs and Rumer two kills.
Ben Logan sees action
On Monday, Ben Logan faced North Union.
North Union won the seventh grade match 25-17, 25-16. Ben Logan had two aces and six kills.
The eighth grade team lost 22-25, 25-8, 26-24. They had 16 kills, 13 assists, five aces and 25 digs.
On Saturday, Benjamin Logan faced Indian Lake.
Ben Logan won the seventh grade match 25-14, 26-24. Indian Lake won the eighth grade contest 25-17, 25-18.
Ben Logan had eight aces and nine kills for the seventh grade, and six kills and five aces for the eighth grade.
Benjamin Logan and West Liberty-Salem split matches last Thursday.
Ben Logan won the seventh grade match, 25-15, 25-12, while West Liberty-Salem won the eighth grade match 25-22, 25-9.
Ben Logan had 16 aces and five kills in the seventh grade contest, and six kills and six aces by the eighth graders.
West Liberty-Salem’s stats were four aces and three kills by the seventh grade team, and 11 kills and 14 aces by the eighth grade.

Riverside splits with Bethel; tops M-U
Riverside’s seventh graders defeated Bethel 24-26, 25-19, 29-27 on Monday.
Bella Shultz had 16 points and eight aces. Bella Beaty had three aces, and Bella Monnin had two aces. Avery Wheeler had four aces and three kills.
Bethel won the eighth grade match 25-18, 25-14. Sofia Butler, Lillian Jackson and Bella Robinson each had four points.
Riverside defeated Milton Union in volleyball last Thursday.
The seventh grade team won 25-10, 25-20.
Bella Shultz had 21 points, with 18 aces. Bella Beaty had six points. Kinsley Crawford had five points with two aces and two kills, and Avery Wheeler had two aces and one kill.
The eighth graders won 24-26, 25-20, 25-20.
Gracie Rench had 14 points and five aces. Bella Robinson had 10 points with eight aces. Lillian Jackson had nine points with three aces. Izzy Hudson, Sofia Butler, Aliya Salo and Lillyanne Hanes also contributed points.

Chiefs run at invitational
The Bellefontaine took boys first place out of 16 teams at the Northwestern Classic on Saturday.
Jackson Maus (2nd, 12:15), Sennett Stolly (3rd, 12:33) and Camden Vollrath (8th, 13:02) were in the top 10, followed by Bennett Lang (15th, 13:27) and Lucas Lin (41st, 14:51).
Others in action were Anthony Carter (15:30), Jayden Lambert (15:34), and Owen Smith (15:42.
The Lady Chieftains finished in fifth place out of 17 teams. The top five were Kylie Lowe (4th, 13:32), Baya Deal (8th, 14:40), Alivia Owens (28th, 16:09), Myra Varner (59th, 19:06) and Bentley Drake (66th, 20:53).
WL-S runs at Schul invite
The West Liberty-Salem middle school team was at the Bob Schul Invitational hosted by Milton-Union on Saturday.
The boys placed third with 113 points. The top five finishers were Milo Matthews (12:06), Caizen Anders (12:09), Zeke Lauck (12:14), Chafer Matthews (12:29) and Liam Harrington (12:53).
The girls were seventh in the team standings. The top finishers were Nika Matthews (13:19), Elin Leichty (13:30), Elayna Hoover (14:35), Iris Meister (14:36) and Lilly Woodruff (15:59).
