Melvin D. Louden, 76, of West Mansfield, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Southbrook Healthcare Center in Springfield, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on May 11, 1948, to the late Robert W. and Romaine (Marcum) Louden. 

Melvin is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Greg Lohning of Anderson, South Carolina; niece, Teri (Jay) Twigg of Stafford, Virginia; and brother, Michael Louden of West Mansfield.

Melvin was a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served during Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, and was a Rifle and Pistol Expert. Melvin loved the outdoors and being on his farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising rabbits, and watching hummingbirds. Melvin was very meticulous in everything he did. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, September 25th at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26th, in the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third St, Dayton.
