Melinda Sue (Major) Neer, age 53, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Urbana on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on October 4, 1970, at Mary Rutan Hospital, the daughter of Alberta Lee Major and the late Martin “Buzz” Major Jr. Melinda was also preceded in death by her brother, Steven E. Major.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Danny” Neer, whom she married on September 27, 2019; children, Brittany (Tony) Ceyler, Bryan (Tiffany) Neeley, and Misty (April) Thiel; stepchildren, Brandon, Jackie, Wesley, and Gracie Neer. 9 grandchildren, Kyra, Hailey, Guy, Noah, Peyton, Angel, Bella, Alaina, and Fallon, whom she loved and adored; sister, Ruby (Steve) Reames; brother, Charles (Gloria) Major; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Melinda was a member of the Moose Lodge #1533 and Union Hall 329 in Lima. She was the life of the party, and she lit up the room when she walked in. Melinda loved the outdoors, fishing, boating, and lying in the sun. She enjoyed playing horseshoes, darts, pool, bingo, and the lottery. Melinda will be missed, dearly.

Pastor Anita VanBuskirk will officiate a funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.
