Mary Elizabeth (Cooke) Thomas passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at her home.

She was born on August 1, 1937, to the late Roe Cooke and Bertha Mae (Godwin) Cooke. On August 24, 1957, she married Wilson Thomas, and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Woods.

Mary is survived by four children, David (Cathy) Thomas of Columbus, Penny (Danny) Gay of Albany, IN, Phyllip (Laura) Thomas of Harrod, and Brent Thomas of Kenton, 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and one sister, Ruth Ann Fissel of Bellefontaine.

Mary enjoyed oil painting, winning many awards from the county fair to state competition. She worked as a volunteer at Hardin Memorial Hospital for many years, painting faces on dolls that were given to children in the emergency room. She was a member of the Belle Center United Presbyterian Church. She was an established pianist. Her greatest joy was her family.

Pastor Ted Dennis will begin funeral services at 12:00 pm. Friday, November 24, 2023, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 10-12. Interment is in Huntsville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given in Mary’s memory to Belle Center United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 186, Belle Center, OH 43310.
