Marker Inc., which operates as Marker Construction, recently announced its certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
WBENC Certification is considered the premier certification for women-owned businesses in the United States, and WBENC is a leading advocate for women business owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
“We are very excited to receive this recognition and we are proud to be a WBENC-certified family-owned company,” said Alison Marker, president and CEO of Marker Inc., based in Columbus and Bellefontaine.
“WBENC Certification aligns with our values and our commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the construction industry. We are looking forward to delivering added value to our clients and partners through this certification, enabling them to achieve their supplier diversity goals while formally demonstrating their commitment to diversity and equity.”
Marker Inc. underwent a rigorous certification process to become a WBENC-Certified WBE, which included an extensive review of the business and a site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women.
By including women-owned businesses among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier diversity programs. This, in turn, empowers women as leaders and contributes to a more diverse, balanced and sustainable economy.
WBENC Certification, combined with professional development and engagement in the WBENC network, provides unsurpassed opportunities year-round, both virtually and in-person, for women-owned businesses to grow and expand their business and innovation through events, programming, and connections with major corporations and other WBEs.
