Hayden W. Storch, 43, of Lakeview, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries related to a crash Monday evening, July 3.

After he was treated and released from the hospital, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Storch’s residence Thursday, July 6, and he was issued summonses for possession of nitrous oxide in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, along with reckless operation.

According to the crash report, Storch was operating a southbound 1972 Dodge Charger about 6:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of Township Road 293 near Froggy’s at the Lake when he went off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene, where they found witnesses assisting Storch, who was injured and on the ground.

Deputies overheard Storch stating that he’d had “way too much to drink” and witnesses said he had been showing off and “burning out his tires,” with lots of smoke present right before the crash.

After Storch was transported from the scene by ambulance, deputies said they located a tank mounted to the vehicle’s floorboard that was labeled “Nos,” consistent with nitrous oxide. The fire department was contacted and they determined that the valve was closed and it was safe to tow the car from the scene.
July 6, deputies said the defendant also was cited for no seat belt and failure to control.

• Hannah D. Johnson, 26, of Cincinnati, was charged with OVI Sunday, July 2, relating to a non-injury crash in the parking lot of Froggy’s at the Lake, 11065 T.R. 293, Lakeview.

Deputies said about 12:40 a.m., Johnson was attempting to back up her 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 from a parking spot and struck an unoccupied 2018 Ford Escape, owned by Tana Dunifon of Lima.
Damage was moderate to the Ford Escape and light to the Dodge Ram.

While speaking with Johnson, deputies observed signs of impairment and an odor of alcohol on her person. She submitted to field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the Logan County Jail, she submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.166 BAC.

• Chad M. Hughes, 36, of Maplewood, was charged with OVI related to a traffic stop Saturday, July 1.

Deputies on patrol about 7:45 p.m. in the area of State Route 274 observed Hughes’ vehicle stopped at the stop sign on County Road 21 and noticed that the driver had his head down and appeared to be slumped over.

Deputies said Hughes then turned westbound onto S.R. 274 and turned into the driveway at a residence at 12902 S.R. 274, and deputies conducted a traffic stop there.
While speaking with Hughes, deputies observed that he displayed signs of impairment. He stated that he’d consumed two beers.

The defendant submitted to field sobriety tests and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.085 BAC. He also was cited for driving under suspension.
