Jon K. Robben, 53, of 11483 Kickapoo Path, Lakeview, was charged with using weapons while intoxicated and aggravated menacing related to an incident Saturday, Aug. 19.
Deputies responded about 11:35 p.m. on a report of a man brandishing a firearm and making threats.

Deputies located the individual, Robben, on his front porch and said he had an “overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverage.” His speech was slurred as he spoke and his eyes appeared glassy, deputies noted.

He was patted down for weapons, and then began to tell deputies that his neighbors had used his wireless Internet for some time and had not paid him.

He stated that one of the neighbors came over to confront him about the Internet not working and then Robben felt the “need to defendant himself” he said, so he reportedly retrieved a handgun from his vehicle in the driveway. He then “brandished” the handgun and said he repeatedly told his neighbor to get off his property.

Deputies spoke with the neighbor, who stated they had offered to pay for the Internet in the past, but Robben had refused their offer. She stated that she went over to speak to Robben to ask about why the Internet had been shut off, and that’s when he was verbally aggressive to her. She also noted that he was under the influence of alcohol.

The neighbor stated she was told to leave Robben’s property, so she began walking away, and then he brandished the handgun and made threats to shoot it and also threatened harm if they contacted law enforcement, she said.

The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
