A fight over damage caused to a boat during a trip on Indian Lake resulted in the arrest of the aggressor around 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in the 11000 block of Tecumseh Path, Lakeview, on a report of an assault that had taken place hours earlier. Deputies made contact with the victim, who reportedly had dried blood all over his face and down his front after he was punched.
Jon Payton, 53, of Lakeview allegedly struck the victim in the face and causing him to bleed and bruise after the victim accidentally caused damage to a boat the two men had been on earlier in the day. Payton became irate over the damage, confronted the victim and a fight ensued.
Deputies later made contact with Payton at an Indian Lake-area bar and he was taken into custody at that time. En route to the Logan County Jail, Payton told law enforcement he “punched (the victim) out” over the damage caused to the boat.
