Dennis Horne, 23, of Bellefontaine, sustained injuries to his face and was charged with multiple offenses as a result of a drunken fit handled shortly after 11 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Officers were initially dispatched to the area of the 600 block of Florence Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute. When they arrived, the police observed Horne bleeding from his lip and face and were told another individ- ual in the house caused the injuries after Horne charged at him looking to fight.
Witnesses said the defendant returned home visibly intoxicated and started to show signs of physical abuse towards his spouse. The individual told Horne not to touch the woman and then Horne reportedly charged at him waving his arms.
Officers learned that Horne was struck in the face and chest by an open hand.
A Bellefontaine squad was dispatched to the scene to transport Horne to Mary Rutan Hospital. He reportedly was uncooperative and combative throughout the entire process, police report. The defendant initially refused to go to the hospital and repeatedly threatened first responders.
When they arrived at the hospital, Horne continued his unreasonable, chaotic behavior, threatening uniformed personnel, refusing to go inside for treatment and assuming a fighting stance at police.
He was eventually forcibly detained and taken into the hospital where he had to be handcuffed to the bed. Horne was verbally abusive and persistently uncooperative throughout the evaluation process, according to reports.
He was charged with public intoxication, persistent disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and for a probation violation and was lodged in the Logan County Jail following his medical release from the hospital.
