Lowell Lorain Kennedy, 80, of Urbana passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in Mercy Health Urbana Hospital.
He was born on November 2, 1943 in Mingo, Ohio, to the late Mabel Easter Neely and George Leonard Kennedy.
On February 4, 1966, Lowell married the love of his life, Bernice (Brown) Kennedy. After 40 plus years of service, Lowell retired as a foreman from Grimes Manufacturing. A dedicated member of Mt. Carmel Church for 50 plus years, Lowell attended services every Sunday with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed various outdoor activities, including gardening, birdwatching, mowing his yard, and raising cows every year. Most of all, however, Lowell cherished his time spent with his family and friends.
Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 58 years; daughter, Lana (Jody) Martin of Lewistown; grandchild, Jalan Shay Martin; brother and sisters-in-law, Gene (Marcia) Brown, Ron (Karen) Brown, Robert Brown, Donnie (Kathy) Brown, and Ralph Brown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clyde and Norman Kennedy; sister-in-law, Luella Kennedy; as well as three Kennedy babies.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 19, at Mt. Carmel Friends Church, Cable, Ohio.
Memorial services will immediately follow in church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Fred Kensler officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cable, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
