Linda Lou Benedict, 74, of Bellefontaine, OH passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023. She was born on June 8, 1949, to Louann and Richard Hartley in Dayton, OH.

On May 10, 1974, Linda married Charles Benedict and they enjoyed 49 fulfilling years of marriage together. They have two children, Randy Benedict, and Carrie Harvey. Linda delighted in being a loving and dedicated grandma to Robby Benedict and Lillian Harvey.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Louann and Richard Hartley. She is survived by her husband Charles, her children Randy and Carrie, her son-in-law Dave, and her grandchildren Robby and Lillian. She is also survived by her brother Rick Hartley and a niece, Hillary Lippert.

Linda was a devoted educator, having served as a second-grade teacher for over 35 years at Huntsville Elementary in the Indian Lake School District. Teaching was her lifelong passion, evidenced by the long hours she put into her teaching career over the years. Linda wanted to specially thank her mentors June Wickerham, Diane Gillespie, and Regie Routman for the support and mentorship during her teaching career.

Linda’s favorite things in life included collecting Snoopy memorabilia, Conway Twitty and Alan Jackson music, teaching, and her grandchildren Robby and Lillian. She was known for being a thoughtful and giving person.

Friends, family, fellow educators, and former students are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, August 9 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main Street, Lakeview. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 2:00 at Cornerstone Church, 6611 Fruit Street, Huntsville. Friends can also pay their respects from 1-2 at Cornerstone Church prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Huntsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Linda’s memory to Indian Lake Elementary PTO.
