Lewis ‘Don’ Stevens

Lewis “Don” Stevens, 92, of Bellefontaine and formerly of Belle Center passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024. He was born in Hardin County, Ohio on October 1, 1931, to the late Elisha and Mary Hazel (Stevens) Stevens. He is also preceded in death by his son, Douglas Wayne Stevens; siblings: Ardith Handley, Fred “Alvin” Stevens, and Norma Cook; nephews: David Martin and Bert Stover; and special friend, Hank Kies.

On May 23, 1981, he married Carol (Fisher) Stevens, and she survives in Bellefontaine.

He is also survived by his children: John (Teri) Stevens, Greg Stevens, and Don (Karla) Stevens; grandchildren: Keri Fergus, Kelly (Mike) Ruble, Katie (Adam) Palmer, Herman Stevens, Henry Stevens, Melissa Hall, Heather Stevens, Erin (David) Miller; great grandchildren: Nick (Taylor), Emily (Dean), Alexa, Kayli (Jacob), Abby, Jacob, Megan. Seth, Jenna, Tate, Tripp, Marcus, Marissa, Preston, Brittany, and Michael; great-great grandchildren: Zadia, Alyssa, Baylynn, Lyric, Micah, Bentley, Harper, and Brooke; brothers-in-law: Dean (Sherry) Fisher and Michael (Sue) Fisher; special niece, Jan Stover; special friends: Gerald Houchin and Al Johnson; and many other nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers he loved dearly.

Don was a proud United States Navy Veteran. After returning from the service, he worked for New York Central as a fireman/engineer then later for Penn Central as a conductor. He also delivered milk for Hopewell Dairy in Bellefontaine for many years. He and his wife, Carol enjoyed traveling together and making trips to Tommy’s Diner in Columbus. He was a member of the Belle Center Church of Christ and he enjoyed reading. His pride and joy was his family and he will be deeply missed.

Pastor Kris Langstaff will officiate a funeral service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 306 N. Elizabeth Street, Belle Center. Visitation will be one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fairview Belle Center Cemetery.
