Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Krista Oldiges reported on several grant-funded accessibility projects at several locations around the county at the board’s meeting Thursday, Dec. 5.

She said the board received a $13,000 grant from United Way of Logan County that will be used to purchase a Mobi-mat for Old Field Beach. This will allow people who utilize wheelchairs with easier access to the beach area at Indian Lake.

In addition, Oldies said the board is using APRA grant funding to purchase and install automatic door openers for Buckeye at the Lake, Homegrown Yoga and Gathering Grounds.

Also during the meeting, members learned that the Early Intervention Department has seen an increase in referrals, receiving 24 in the month of November.

Typically, EI receives five to seven referrals in one month. Year-to-date they have received 111 referrals and have served 133 children.

A survey was sent out recently to families receiving Early Intervention services to see if there was an interest in starting a parent support group. There are several parents who responded that are interested in participating.

Jason Moyer, SSA Director, attended a training to learn how the Brittco software can be used to allow providers access to view Individual Service Plans of the people they serve, submit incident reports and allow providers to notify if they would like to provide services to people currently searching for providers.

Brittco is a cloud-based software solution that integrates Ohio County Boards of DD, DODD Providers, ICFs, and OOD VR Providers into one unified platform. County Boards of DD are also able to submit ISPs to the DODD system using the Brittco software.

The mobile dentist recently visited the Discovery Center, where they saw more than 30 preschoolers.

The board currently has two openings for teachers at the Discovery Center preschool. Anyone interested in applying for the positions can e-mail Staci Nichols at [email protected].

Members reviewed and approved several contracts, including contracts with the YMCA, Midwest Regional Education Service Center, WestCON, Nineteen Services, Inc. and PT Services Rehabilitation, Inc.

The board reviewed and approved two policies, as well as the 2025 Administrative Calendar and the 2025 Board Meeting Calendar.

Board meetings are typically conducted the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 1973 W. State Route 47.
