UPDATE: Hourslong standoff ends after suspect is injured and arrested

An armed standoff that lasted nearly 11 hours Wednesday, Aug. 14 came to an end after law enforcement fired upon and injured a suspect inside 11331 Big Bear Path, Lakeview, on Indian Lake’s north side.

The identity of the suspect — who is believed to be a male — is not being released at this time, per a media release by Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds.

The ordeal began about 10:33 a.m. with a 911 call from a neighboring residence at 11307 Big Bear Path advising their home had been struck by gunfire.

Deputies arrived on scene, determined the house was struck and that the gunfire came from the 11331 Big Bear Path residence. The suspect would not open the door when deputies attempted to make initial contact.

The 11331 Big Bear Path residence is owned by Angelique and Holley Tolliver, according to Logan County Auditor records.

Nearby neighbors were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution.

Special Response Teams, including those from Bellefontaine and Marysville, made numberous attempts to get the suspect to come out and talk.

During the incident, SRT units deployed flash-bangs and attempted to gain entry into the residence, but were fired upon and forced to back off.

After the suspect fired numerous rounds at law enforcement, officers returned fire injuring the individual, who eventually exited the residence about 9:19 p.m. and was taken into custody.

The suspect was taken by squad to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of injuries.

The officer-involved shooting scene is being processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal  Investigation.

Deputies were assisted by Bellefontaine, Russells Point and Washington Township police, Marysville and Bellefontaine SRT units, Allen County Bomb Squad and others.
