Large amount of marijuana, cash recovered from traffic stop

Drugs and over $1,000 in cash were recovered by Logan County Sheriff’s Office deputies during a traffic stop early Friday, Jan. 10, along U.S. Route 33, just east of Russells Point.

Miles Harte, 21, of East Liberty, was stopped for speeding shortly after 1 a.m., when a deputy observed his gray Honda Civic traveling eastbound at 71 mph in a 55-mph zone.

After stopping the vehicle, deputies identified the driver, Harte. A strong odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle.

Harte, who claimed to be returning home to East Liberty after visiting a friend at Indian Lake, was found to possess THC pre-rolled cigarettes, a vape, and a lighter during a pat-down search. He initially denied having additional substances in the vehicle but later admitted there was marijuana inside.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large stash of THC products, raw marijuana, and psilocybin mushroom chocolate bars. Deputies discovered over 600 grams of marijuana in labeled baggies, THC cartridges, edibles, and paraphernalia, along with $1,140 in cash.

He claimed the items were all intended for personal use and had been purchased in Michigan.

The vehicle’s contents included 638.43 grams of raw marijuana, various THC cartridges, gummies and concentrates and psilocybin chocolate bars, a Schedule 1 controlled substance

Harte was detained and transported to the Logan County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
