Indian Lake’s softball team continued its hot start to the season by cruising to a 9-2 win over host North Union in a Central Buckeye Conference game Monday.
The Lakers are now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the CBC. The Wildcats fall to 3-1, 1-1.
“I am so proud of this Indian Lake team,” said head coach John Stahl. “It was a total team effort. We hit on all cylinders, pitching, defense and hitting.”
Indian Lake took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and scored two more runs in the top of the third for a 3-0 advantage.
The Lakers followed with four runs in the fourth to make it 7-0 and they tacked on two more in the sixth for a 9-0 advantage.
The Wildcats scored once in the bottom of the sixth and once in the seventh.
Madison Brentlinger earned the win for the Lakers in the pitching circle. She scattered eight hits, allowed two earned runs, struck out three and walked two.
Indian Lake’s offense had another big day with 12 hits.
Porscha Davis went 2-4 with a home run and five RBI to lead the Laker attack.
Also for the Lakers in the win, Hailee Edwards was 3-3, Brentlinger was 2-3 with two RBI, Halle Roby went 2-3 with two RBI and Mackenzie Dixon added two hits.
The Lakers are back in action Wednesday at home against the Wildcats.

Raiders slip past Graham
Benjamin Logan pulled out a 4-3 win over Graham with a run in the ninth inning on Monday.
The Raiders 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Central Buckeye Conference. Graham drops to 2-2, 0-1.
Kenzee Roseburrough went 3-4 with an RBI to spark the Raiders’ offense.
Kyah Moore had a double and two RBI to aid the Ben Logan win.
Moore went 8 1/3 innings in the pitching circle. She gave up five hits, three earned runs and struck out six.
Chloe Crum worked the final 2/3 innings.
Ben Logan hosts Kenton Ridge today.

Chiefs fall to Cougars
Bellefontaine could not get its bats going in a 2-0 loss to host Kenton Ridge in Central Buckeye Conference softball action Monday.
The Chieftains are now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the CBC. The Cougars improve to 4-1, 1-0.
Bellefontaine managed just one hit. That came from Averie Vigansky.
Kenton Ridge took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added a run in the fifth.
The Chiefs are back in action today at Northwestern.

Tigers shut out by WJ
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team lost to visiting West Jefferson 6-0 in Ohio Heritage Conference play Monday.
The Tigers are now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the OHC. West Jeff is now 2-0, 2-0.
WL-S was no-hit by West Jefferson standout Brooke Mannon, who recorded 19 strikeouts.
The Roughriders scored one run in the first inning and another in the third for a 2-0 lead. They added two more in the fifth and two in the sixth.
WL-S is back in action today at Mechanicsburg.
