Lakers quiet Wildcats to clinch outright Mad River championship

Goal number one is in the books.

Indian Lake defeated North Union 27-6 in front of its home fans on senior night Friday in Central Buckeye Conference football action.

The victory makes the Lakers 5-0 in Mad River division play for the outright title, and 8-2 overall. Indian Lake now awaits its opponent for the first round of the Region 20 playoffs in Division V. They will be at home for at least one more contest.

The Lakers got two scores in the first half, then barreled down the field to start the third quarter and make it 20-0. They got another score in the fourth, with the Wildcats breaking up the shutout in the final minutes.

Drake Cosby led the rushing attack with 23 carries for 143 yards, including a 5-yard score. Quest Clay (18 yards) and Noah Shirk (5 yards) scored on the ground as well.

Quarterback Madden Lillard was very accurate, going 10 of 14 for 167 yards on the night. Clay pulled in five balls for 117 yards, while Bryce Burton had a 7-yard
score, plus a 25-yard grab.
