Lakers pick up non-league baseball win over Russia

Indian Lake’s baseball team tuned up for the start of tournament play this week with an 8-4 win over Russia on Saturday.

The Lakers are now 16-8 on the season.

Russia jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Lakers were able to battle back.

Indian Lake scored once in the second to make it 4-1. The Lakers followed with three runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to take an 8-4 lead.

The Lakers held Russia scoreless over the final six innings to wrap up the win.

Lane Tucci went 2-4 with three RBI to lead the Lakers at the plate. Dawson Finfrock was 2-4, Madden Lillard had a double and Bryce Burton had two RBI.

Burke Lillard earned the win on the mound for the Lakers. He allowed four hits and struck out two while not giving up an earned run in the four innings of work.

The Lakers will host Miami East in a non-league game today and will then play at home Wednesday in a sectional tournament contest against the winner of the first-round game between Valley View and Houston.
