Lakers pick up key CBC baseball win over Graham

Indian Lake moved into a first-place tie with Graham in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division standings after beating the host Falcons 7-3 on Tuesday.

The Lakers are now 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the CBC. Graham moves to 8-4, 6-2.

Indian Lake struck first with three runs in the top of the second inning.

Graham answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to make the score 3-2.

Neither team plated another run until the top of the sixth, when the Lakers scored once to increased their lead to 4-2.

Indian Lake opened up some breathing room with three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Camdon Tuttle earned the win on the mound for the Lakers. He allowed six hits and did not give up an earned run. He struck out four and walked one.

Madden Lillard, Maddux Hall and Dawson Finfrock each had three hits to spark the Indian Lake offense. Tuttle and Burke Lillard each had a double.

The Lakers host Graham today for another CBC battle.

Chiefs rough up Shawnee

Bellefontaine’s baseball team is starting to find its stride after beating host Springfield Shawnee 17-3 on Tuesday for the Chiefs’ third win in a row.

Bellefontaine is now 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the Central Buckeye Conference. Shawnee falls to 2-9, 1-7.

Bellefontaine scored four runs in the first inning and added another in the top of the fourth for a 5-0 lead.

The Braves answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-3.

Bellefontaine then blew the game open with 12 runs in the fifth inning.

Kaden Reames earned the win on the mound for the Chiefs. He struck out seven, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Keyon Collier went 3-4 and Owen Larison had four RBI to lead Bellefontaine at the plate. Brody Boy added two hits.

The Chiefs host Shawnee today.

Raiders clip Warriors in 8

Benjamin Logan’s baseball team scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to fight off host Northwestern 11-9 in eight innings Monday in a Central Buckeye Conference game.

The Raiders are now 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the CBC. The Warriors drop to 4-5, 2-5.

Ben Logan led 1-0 after the first inning. The Warriors scored five times in the third inning for a 5-1 lead.

The Raiders battled back, scoring one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie the score at 5-5.

It stayed that way until the Raiders came up with their six-run outburst in the top of the eighth.

Northwestern made things interesting with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Raiders were able to hang on for the win.

Bryden Morris went 3-6 with a double and Ian Scheiderer was 4-6 with two doubles and two RBI to help power the Ben Logan offense.

Keaton Horney was 2-4 with a double and an RBI, EJ Martin went 2-3 with three RBI, Trey Miracle was 2-4 with two doubles and two RBI and Collin Powell added two RBI.

Ben Logan is back in action today at home against Warriors.

Tigers roll past Indians

West Liberty-Salem got its offense rolling early Tuesday as the Tigers bounced host Cedarville 14-6 in an Ohio Heritage Conference baseball game.

WL-S is now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the OHC. Cedarville falls to 1-8, 0-6.

The Tigers scored three times in the top of the first inning to lead 3-0.

Cedarville plated two runs in the bottom of the first to make it 3-2.

WL-S regained its lead with five runs in the top top of the second. The Tigers added three runs in the third to open up an 11-2 lead.

Cedarville put four runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning to make the score 11-6.

That would be as close as Cedarville would get. The Tigers tacked on two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth.

Austin Olejniczak had a big day at the plate for the Tigers. He went 2-4 with a double, home run and two RBI.

Isaac Sertell went 2-2 with two RBI and Jeremiah Johnson and Payton Knight each added two RBI.

Peyton Hull earned the win on the mound.

The Tigers return to action Thursday at home against Northeastern.

Pirates drop TRC game

Host Riverside was plagued by five errors in a 9-3 loss to Bethel in Three Rivers Conference baseball action Tuesday.

The Pirates fall to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the TRC. Bethel improves to 7-6, 6-1.

Riverside struck first with a run in the opening inning, but the Bees answered with five runs in the second to lead 5-1.

The Pirates scored one run in the third to make it 5-2.

Bethel then scored four times in the fourth inning for a 9-2 lead. The Pirates were able to muster just one more run in the fifth.

Gavin Orsborne went 3-3 with a double and three RBI to spark the Riverside bats. Zander Crouch added a double.

The Pirates host Northridge on Thursday.
