Lakers’ Pequignot named Mad River soccer player of year

Five other local players also earn 1st-team CBC honors

The Central Buckeye Conference has announced its selections for boys soccer.

Avery Pequignot, a junior forward and midfielder for Indian Lake, was named the player of the year for the Mad River division. Pequignot had 25 goals and three assists for 53 points in 17 games.

Also named to the Mad River first team were seniors Colten Corcoran and Chase Schaub for the Lakers. Benjamin Logan was represented by seniors Eric Hughes and Ethan Miller, and junior Aidan Todd.

On the MR second team, those selected were senior Jacob Freyhof, junior Carson Clary, and sophomore Cason Lacher for Indian Lake; along with Ben Logan’s Carter Lyden, Landon Stoodt and Liam Sweeney, who are all seniors.

Getting special mention were senior Cameron Freyhof of the Lakers and junior Landen Simon for the Raiders.

Sportsmanship award selections included senior Owen Jordan for Ben Logan and junior Aiden Steinbaugh for Indian Lake.

The rest of the Mad River division first team was made up by Northwestern’s Jamie Partlow, Brayden Spencer and Andrew Taylor and Graham’s Owen Powell, Dietrich Rembold and Jansen Rembold.

Rounding out the MR second team were Northwestern’s Carter Baugh and Cayden Prosser, Shawnee’s Noah Boblitt and Deacon Weller and Graham’s Kale Gilbert and Joshua Ryman.

Special mention honors went to Charlie Lemon of Shawnee, Kennen Miller of Northwestern and Caleb Owens from Graham.

On the Kenton Trail division side, Bellefontaine senior Alex Crabill was named to the first team.

BHS freshman Anderson Konz earned special mention honors and senior Jeff Smith received the sportsmanship award.

Senior midfielder Fabrizio Fiorini of Jonathan Alder was the Kenton Trail division player of the year.

Other first-team selections for the KT were Tecumseh’s Angel Alvarado, Brandon Gonzalez and Christopher Gonzalez, Alder’s Aiden Becker, Fiorini, Carson Gordon and Mauro Muselli, Kenton Ridge’s Max Brandenberry and Parker Leffel and London’s David Castillo and Jonah Thomas.

The second team was made up of Jonathan Alder’s Zander Bauerle, Phil Chin, Jimmy Martine, and Jon Schimmoeller; Kenton Ridge’s Charlie Bisher and Xander Grigsby, London’sCarter Blakeway and Michael Davis, Urbana’s Brody Donahoe and Brayden Spriggs and Tecumseh’s Evan Samosky and Brady Wallace.

Besides Konz, other special mention picks for the Kenton Trail division were Caleb Bair of Kenton Ridge; Caden Hoffman of Tecumseh; Ryan Nolan of London; Logan Webb of Urbana and Josh Yaich of Jonathan Alder.
