West Liberty-Salem’s girls soccer team took down visiting Mechanicsburg 4-0 on Thursday in a Division III sectional tournament semifinal.
The seventh-seeded Tigers (9-5-3) move on to play fifth-seeded Springfield Catholic Central (9-3-1) at 7 p.m. Monday in a sectional final at Piqua.
The Tigers tied the Irish 2-2 during the regular season.
Grace Estes fueled WL-Salem’s offense Thursday against M’burg with two goals. Sophie Cole had one goal with one assist, Rachel Davis had one goal, while Julia Ames and Emily Hollar both provided an assist.
Defensively for the Tigers, Delany Wade recorded five saves in goal.
The Indians finished the season with a 7-8-3 record.
Anna races past Ben Logan
Benjamin Logan’s girls soccer team saw its season come to an end Thursday as host Anna rolled to an 8-0 win in Division II tournament action.
The 10th-seeded Raiders finish their season with a 4-12-1 record. The second-seeded Rockets (14-0-1) advance to play fourth-seeded Milton Union on Monday at Northmont in a sectional final.
Lehman blanks Indian Lake
Indian Lake’s girls soccer team fell behind early as host Lehman Catholic ran away with an 8-0 win Thursday in Division III tournament play.
The 16th-seeded Lakers finish the season with a 4-12-1 record. The top-seeded Cavaliers (10-1-2) take on 10th-seeded Madison Monday at Wayne High School for a sectional final contest.
