Lady Lakers wipe out Warriors, move to 9-1

Indian Lake continued its impressive play Monday, jolting visiting Northwestern 12-0 in five innings in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game.

The Lakers are now 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the CBC. The Warriors drop to 3-4, 2-3.

Indian Lake jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and the Lakers added three runs in the second inning and five runs in the third.

Madison Brentlinger was the winning pitcher. She allowed just one hit and struck out four in five innings.

Hailee Edwards went 3-3 with an RBI to spark the IL offense. Katie Roby was 2-2 with a triple and an RBI, Brentlinger had a triple and three RBI, Halle Roby was 2-3 with a triple and three RBI and Hannah Marlow added a triple and an RBI.

Indian Lake travels to Northwestern on Wednesday.

Raiders wallop Urbana

Host Benjamin Logan rolled past visiting Urbana 15-1 in five innings in Central Buckeye Conference action Monday.

The Raiders are now 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the CBC. The Hillclimbers fall to 1-6, 0-5.

Ben Logan scored six runs in the opening inning and added one in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth.

Rhea Harner went 3-4 with two RBI and Rylan Norviel was 2-2 with a double and two RBI to lead the Raiders at the plate.

Elliott Bailey was 2-4 with two RBI, Kenzee Roseburrough had a triple and Skylar Miracle had a double.

Kyah Moore was the winning pitcher. She allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings.

Pirates clip JC

Riverside’s softball team pulled out a 5-4 victory over visiting Jackson Center in non-league action Monday.

The Pirates are now 6-3 on the season.

Both teams score a run in the first inning and the score stayed 1-1 until the Pirates plated a run in the fourth for a 2-1 lead.

Jackson Center scored three times in the top of the fifth to go up 4-2.

However, the Pirates answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score and Riverside scored the go-ahead run in the sixth.

Taylor Dillon, Brook Hunkler, Jaidyn Jackson and Katie Schlumbohm each had two hits to lead the Pirates at the plate.

Riley Dillon started in the pitching circle and went four innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five.

Alaina Snow came on and worked the last three frames to get the win. She gave up one hit and struck out eight.

Riverside is back in action today at Covington.

Tigers grab first win

West Liberty-Salem’s softball team earned its first victory of the season Monday by defeating host Madison Plains 3-2 in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.

The Tigers are now 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the OHC. Madison Plains falls to 1-5, 1-3.

The Tigers scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth before the Eagles answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 2-1.

WL-S tied the game with a run in the fifth. The Tigers went ahead 3-2 in the top of the seventh and held the Eagles scoreless in the bottom of the inning to get the win.

Kennedy Wallace earned the win in the pitching circle. She allowed six hits and two runs while striking out five.

Offensively for the Tigers, Kaylee Blair went 2-3 with a double, Ava Buck went 2-3, Brooklyn Wilcoxon went 2-4 with an RBI and Briley Sullivan added a double and an RBI.

The Tigers are back in action today at home against Southeastern.

Pioneers outlast Chiefs

Bellefontaine mounted a valiant rally, but it wasn’t enough as the Chiefs fell to visiting Jonathan Alder 14-10 in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game Monday.

The Chiefs are now 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the CBC. The Pioneers stay perfect at 9-0, 4-0.

The Pioneers led 8-0 after three innings and they piled up six runs in the top of the fourth for a 14-0 lead.

Bellefontaine scored one run in the fourth, five in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Emma Crabtree went 4-4 to spark the BHS offense. Averie Vigansky went 2-4 with a double, Alexza Clifton was 2-4 with a home run and Addison Wical and Rianna Fullerton both had doubles.

Bellefontaine is back in action Wednesday at Alder.
