Lady Lakers wallop Hillclimbers 22-1

Indian Lake’s softball team blitzed host Urbana 22-1 in five innings Wednesday, earning at least a share of the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division title.

The Lakers, who are now 19-1 overall and 13-1 in the CBC, can clinch the outright Mad River crown tonight at home against Kenton Ridge. Indian Lake currently has a two-game lead over second-place North Union.

After scoring one run in the first inning, the Lakers piled up 11 runs in the second for a 12-0 lead. They added two in the third and four in the fourth.

Urbana scored its one run in the fifth inning.

Madison Brentlinger allowed one hit and struck out three n three innings to get the win for the Lakers. Carmyn Weiner worked the last two innings.

Offensively, Indian Lake pounded out 19 hits.

Halle Roby went 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI, Brentlinger went 2-2 with a triple and two RBI, Porscha Davis went 3-3 with a triple and three RBI, Mackenzie Dixon went 2-4 with three RBI, Haylee Edwards went 3-3 with two doubles and two RBI, Abigail Elliott went 2-3 with a double and three RBI, Hannah Marlow went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Reece Martin had a triple and Kayleigh Zedlitz added a double for the Lakers.

Chiefs jolt Arrows

Bellefontaine’s bats were hot in a 20-4 win over host Tecumseh in Central Buckeye Conference softball action Wednesday.

The Chiefs are now 10-12 overall and 5-9 in the CBC. Tecumseh drops to 2-15, 2-11.
Kassi Prine was the winning pitcher for the Chiefs.

Offensively for BHS, Ellie Mitchell was 3-4 with a double, Rianna Fullerton went 5-5 with a double, Alexza Clifton was 2-3 with a double and home run, Addison Wical was 3-4 with a double, Aubrey Hudson was 3-3 with a triple and Carissa Cozad had a double.

The Chiefs host Tecumseh today.

North Union derails Raiders

Benjamin Logan’s softball team could not slow down a dangerous North Union offense Wednesday as the host Wildcats recorded a 9-1 win in a Central Buckeye Conference game.

The Raiders drop to 12-5 overall and 7-5 in the CBC. North Union improves to 16-3, 11-3.

North Union took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning and the Wildcats exploded for seven runs in the third for a 9-0 advantage.

Ben Logan mustered a run in the fourth.

Kyah Moore had a double and an RBI to lead Ben Logan’s offense.

The Raiders are back in action today at home against the Wildcats.

Tigers slip to West Jefferson

West Liberty-Salem’s softball team put up a valiant fifth, but came up short 2-0 to state-ranked West Jefferson on Wednesday.

The Tigers are now 4-11 overall and 4-9 in the OHC. West Jeff improves to 14-1, 13-0.

West Jeff star pitcher Brooke Mannon, who has signed to play at Arizona, fired a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts.

Kennedy Wallace was solid in the circle for the Tigers. She allowed seven hits, one earned run and struck out one.

The Tigers play at Mechanicsburg today.
