Riverside’s boys bowling team earned a state berth on Tuesday. On Wednesday it was Indian Lake’s girls team earning that achievement.
The Lady Lakers finished second in the Division II district tournament at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek to advance to the state tourney.
The top four teams in the district tournament moved on to state, which is Friday, March 3 at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
Versailles won the D2 district title with a total pin count of 3,664. The Lakers were next with 3,398. Graham finished in third (3,384) and Urbana claimed the final state ticket with a 3,308 for fourth.
Benjamin Logan’s girls team also competed Wednesday and finished ninth among the 24 teams with a total of 3,078.
Kayleigh Zedlitz led the Lakers with games of 162, 183 and 203 for a 548 series. That score placed her fifth in the individual standings.
The Lakers’ Jalan Martin was right behind Zedlitz in sixth with games of 155, 207 and 182 for a 544 series.
Also for the Lakers, Jaelyn Hughes had a 180 game and 458 series and Samantha Johnson rolled a 166 game and 457 series.
Reece Plikerd led Ben Logan with games of 171, 182 and 136 for a 489 series. Malori Barnes had a 161 game and 461 series and Sarah Folk posted a 180 game and 460 series.
Alyssa Mueller represented West Liberty-Salem as an individual district qualifier and had games of 171, 112 and 162 for a 446 series.
Lady Chiefs earn D1 district berth
Bellefontaine’s girls bowling team participated in the Division I sectional tournament Wednesday and finished fifth as a team to qualify for next week’s district tourney.
Butler won the sectional with a score of 3,851. Centerville was second (3,779), Wayne was third (3,705), Troy was fourth (3,470) and the Chiefs had 3,458 for their fifth-place finish.
The top nine teams earned spots in the district tournament.
Gracie Hood led the Chiefs with games of 165, 204 and 158 for a 527 series. Kayla Watkins had games of 171, 183 and 170 for a 524 series, Aubrey Hudson had games of 189, 144 and 178 for a 511 series and Chloe Heminger added a 199 game and 506 series.
The Division I district tournament is Friday, March 3, in Beavercreek.
