Bellefontaine’s softball team outlasted host Northwestern 12-9 for a Central Buckeye Conference victory Tuesday.
The Chiefs are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the CBC. The Warriors drop to 2-2, 1-1.
Northwestern struck first with four runs in the opening inning.
Bellefontaine battle back with three runs in the second and two in the third to lead 5-4.
The Chiefs plated four runs in the top of the fourth to make it 9-4.
Northwestern scored once in the bottom of the four to get it to 9-5.
Bellefontaine pushed three more runs across the plate in the top of the fifth for a 12-5 lead.
The Warriors scored once in the bottom of the fifth and three times in the seventh, but the Chiefs were able to hold on for the win.
Ellie Mitchell went 2-3 with a triple and Kassi Prine went 2-4 with a triple to help spark the BHS offense.
Alexza Clifton had a double, Arianna Young went 2-3 with a triple, Aubrey Hudson was 3-4 with three RBI, Averie Vigansky was 2-4 with a double and Emma Crabtree added two hits.
Vigansky earned the win in the pitching circle.
Bellefontaine is back in action today at home against Kenton Ridge.

Lakers slip past Shawnee
Indian Lake fought off visiting Springfield Shawnee 3-2 in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game Tuesday.
The Lakers are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the CBC. The Braves drop to 2-2, 0-2.
Shawnee scored twice in the first inning for a 2-0 lead.
The Lakers tied the game with a pair of runs in the third inning and plated the go-ahead run in the fourth.
Madison Brentlinger went the distance in the pitching circle to get the win for the Lakers. She allowed four hits but did not give up an earned run. She struck out three and did not walk a batter.
Mackenzie Dixon went 2-3 with an RBI to spark the Lakers at the plate. Katie Roby added an RBI.
The Lakers are back in action today at home against North Union.

Pirates pummel TC
Riverside had no problem with Troy Christian on Tuesday as the host Pirates coasted to a 13-1 win in five innings in a Three Rivers Conference softball game.
The Pirates are now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the TRC.
Riverside scored five runs in the second inning and then had three in the third for an 8-0 advantage. The Pirates scored five more times in the fourth inning to put the game away.
The Eagles scored their lone run in the top of the fifth.
Freshman Riley Dillon made her first varsity start in the pitching circle for the Pirates and earned the win. She did not allow a hit and struck out four.
Offensively for the Pirates, Alaina Snow went 2-4 with two doubles and three RBI and Jade Copas went 2-4 with two RBI.
The Pirates are back on the field Thursday at home against Lehman Catholic.

Cougars edge Ben Logan
Visiting Kenton Ridge scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 3-2 victory over Benjamin Logan in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game Tuesday.
Ben Logan is now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the CBC. The Cougars improve to 5-1, 2-0.
After four scoreless innings to start the game, Ben Logan broke through for a run in the fifth.
The Raiders still led 1-0 going into the seventh inning, but the Cougars scored three times in the top of the seventh to lead 3-1.
Ben Logan pushed a run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Brooks Myers had two doubles and an RBI to lead Ben Logan’s offense.
Chloe Crumm suffered the loss in the circle for the Raiders, but she allowed just five hits and struck out six.
Ben Logan travels to Graham today.

Indians derail Tigers
West Liberty-Salem’s softball team faced another powerful team Tuesday and fell to host Mechanicsburg 10-0 in five innings.
The Tigers, who lost to a very strong West Jefferson team Monday, are now 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the Ohio Heritage Conference. The Indians improve to 2-1, 2-1.
WL-S was held without a hit for the second straight game, but the Tigers struck out just four times.
The Tigers return to action Friday at Greeneview.
