Bellefontaine’s softball team advanced in the Division II sectional tournament with a 10-3 win over visiting Northwestern on Tuesday.

The fifth-seeded Chiefs are now 13-12 on the season. The Warriors end their campaign with a record of 7-14.

Bellefontaine will now play local rival Benjamin Logan in the sectional semifinal round Thursday at Ben Logan. The Raiders are the second seed.

Northwestern took a 1-0 lead in the first inning Tuesday, but the Chiefs scored twice in the second and twice in the third to build a 4-1 advantage.

Bellefontaine plated five runs in the fifth to increase its lead to 9-1.

Both teams scored a run in the sixth to make it 10-2.

The Warriors rounded out the scoring with a single run in the seventh.

Averie Vigansky earned the win in the pitching circle for the Chiefs. She recorded eight strikeouts.

Offensively for BHS, Alexza Clifton went 2-4 with a triple, Ellie Mitchell had a triple and Vigansky added a double.

Thursday’s game will be the second matchup of the season between the Raiders and Chiefs. Bellefontaine won the regular-season meeting 6-3.

Raiders cut down Pioneers, Braves

Benjamin Logan’s softball team fought off visiting Jonathan Alder for a 1-0 win Monday in Central Buckeye Conference action.

Neither team was able to dent home plate until the Raiders were able to claw out a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Bailee Stover ripped an RBI triple with two outs to plate Brooks Myers with the winning run.

Kyah Moore went the distance in the pitching circle for the Raiders. She allowed only one hit.

Ben Logan then edged visiting Springfield Shawnee 5-4 on Tuesday.

The Raiders are now 16-7 overall and 10-6 in the CBC. The Pioneers drop to 17-5, 12-4.

Myers had two hits and two RBI and Rhea Harner was 2-4 with a double to lead the BL offense. Rylan Norviel had a double and two RBI.

Chloe Crumm earned the win in the pitching circle.

The Raiders will host Bellefontaine in a sectional tournament game Thursday.
