Kenton man arrested on OVI, firearm charges

A Kenton man landed in the Logan County Jail Friday, Oct. 24, following a traffic stop in the city.

Cody M. Castle, 29, of Kenton was stopped by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department just after 11 p.m. after they observed Castle’s 2014 Honda Civic make several traffic violations on north Main Street between Powell and Reynolds Avenues. 

Officers initiated the stop in the lot of a north Main Street business and observed that Castle appeared to be intoxicated.  

When Castle opened the glove box of his vehicle to retrieve insurance information, police observed a .9mm semi-automatic handgun in the glove box. 

Castle reportedly failed field sobriety tests and admitted to have been drinking, at which time he was arrested and the handgun was taken into evidence. 

He was transported to the jail, where he registered an 0.087 on the breathalyzer before being charged with improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and failure to drive within marked lanes before being lodged.
