Date:

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judy Lynn Kitson (Kerns), who left us peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024 in her home outside of Belle Center.

Born on April 8, 1960, Judy was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength, cherished deeply by her family and friends. She is now reunited with her beloved mother, Mary Lou Kerns (Reames), who preceded her death in 2020.

Judy’s legacy is carried forward by her devoted father and stepmother, Dr. Donald and Sharon Kerns; her siblings Kathy Ann Kerns-Gooden, Ken Kerns, Jill Kinney, Jana Mitchell, and Steve Rife; her cousins Mike Kerns and Clifford Cronkelton; her loving husband, Chris Kitson; her children Casey (and wife Jenny) Patton, Scott Patton, and Kylie (and husband Kyle) Shoemaker; and her three treasured grandchildren Wyatt Patton, Harper Patton, and Grayson Shoemaker.

Growing up in West Mansfield, Ohio, Judy attended Benjamin Logan High School and then the Ohio State University Lima Branch, where she began her lifelong career as a nurse. Her dedication to caring for others extended beyond her professional life, as she nurtured and loved those around her with the same passion.

Judy’s life was filled with a variety of interests and talents. She found joy in foaling, training, and showing horses; her hobbies ranged from playing golf to crafting award-winning quilts for her loved ones. Judy’s creativity and skill were evident in the beautiful homes she designed, built, maintained, decorated, and upgraded, a testament to her hard working spirit.

Above all, Judy was incredibly proud of her children and adored every moment she spent as “Nana” to her grandchildren. Her home was always open, and her friends and neighbors had great affection for their visits with her, as she welcomed them with warmth and care.

A kind, generous, and faithful woman, Judy was the heart of her family. Her strength, love, and many beauties will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Judy’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and she will forever remain in our hearts.

Warm regards,

The family of Judy Kitson
