The Bellefontaine Water Department reports on Tuesday, May 21, it will be necessary for crews to temporarily disrupt the water service to all customers on Johns Avenue for the purpose of a fire hydrant repair.
The disruption of service is expected to occur at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
“Residents may be without water for several hours. Our crews will work as diligently and quickly as possible,” Water Superintendent Ryan Shields reported
Once the water has been turned off, all residents on Johns Avenue will be placed on a boil advisory. This advisory means water should be boiled for at least five minutes before consuming.
Once the water is restored, water may be a brown, rusty color.
“Please allow water to run until the water runs clear,” officials said.
The Water Department will collect samples for total coliform once the water is turned back on.
Once the samples are collected, results will be received within 24 hours. Once the water is confirmed safe for consumption, the public will be notified that the boil
water advisory has been lifted.
“We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your corporation and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Water Department at (937) 593-6121,” officials said.
