John L. Harrod, 88, passed away on October 13, 2024.
John Harrod was born on February 20, 1936, to the late Elbert and Grace (Garner) Harrod.
John graduated from Gomer High School, Gomer, Ohio. After high school John served his country honorably in the US Army. While on leave he met his spouse, Wanda (Shaw) Harrod of Waynesfield, OH, through a blind date which both of their sisters, who were nurses at Lima Memorial Hospital, arranged. After marrying, John and Wanda eventually settled in Elida, Ohio, where they raised their five children.
John and Wanda had five children: Lisa (Burt) Myers of Reno, NV; Lori (Dave) James (both deceased) who resided in Bellefontaine; Leslie (Ramon) Walls of Delaware, OH; Lynda (Steve) Barrington of Dublin, OH and John (Linda) Harrod Jr., of Dublin, OH; 12 grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara (Harrod) Gudakunst, of Shawnee, Ohio.
Along with his parents he is proceeded in death by two brothers, Jim and Denny Harrod and his daughter and son-in-law as previously mentioned.
John was an over-the-road truck driver most of his life and has traveled all over this great country. John was a hard worker and loved his family, working on cars, trucks, boating and fishing.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 19, with services directly following at noon at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, 920 N. Cable Road, Lima, OH.
