John Douglas “Doug” Baughman, 87, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 9:04 a.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born in DeGraff, Ohio on May 16, 1937, a son of the late John Sherman Baughman and Flora Luella (Kerns) Baughman.
On November 25, 1961, Doug married Alice Ann (Barker) Baughman in Bellefontaine, Ohio and she survives, along with their three children, Mark (Marie) Baughman, Dawn (Tom) Core, and Kent (Sherri) Baughman; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Lizzy) Baughman, Kyle (Morgan) Baughman, Josiah (Jess) Baughman, Heather (Wade) Ray, Evan (Marenna) Core, Zachery (Katelyn) Baughman, and Ciara Baughman; nine great grandchildren, Annabelle Baughman, Jocelyn Baughman, Clayton Baughman, Claira Baughman, Ella Baughman, Gavin Baughman, Arturo “TJ” Morua III, Emira Core, and Noah Lampley; two sisters, Ramona Dodds, and Carol (Bill) Slater; three brothers, Cliff Baughman, Dale (Carol) Baughman, and Ron (Liuda) Baughman; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joyce Baughman, and a brother-in-law, Richard Dodds.
Doug served in the Ohio Army National Guard for six years and retired from Copeland following 44 years of dedicated employment. He was an active member and former Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, had served on both the Riverside School Board and Calvary Christian School Board, and was a board member of the Skyview Ranch church camp in Millersburg for six years. He was a hobby farmer who enjoyed cutting wood and running, which he did until almost 80 years of age.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
