Jason James Carder, age 19, of Wapakoneta passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024.

He was born May 10, 2005, in Lima, to Todd and Jodi (Miller) Carder. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives.

Also surviving are his brother, Jesse L. Carder; his grandparents: Susan R. & Gene (dec’d) Miller and Lois & James Carder; his uncle, Chad & Holly (dec’d) Miller and their children: Logan & Whitney Miller, Autumn Miller; uncle, Matt & Sue Carder and their son, Josh Carder; aunt, Kara & Tom Bussard and their children, Tommy & Tyler Bussard; great aunts, Alice McCormack and her daughter, Katie McCormack (dec’d) and great aunt, Linda & Dave (dec’d) Frantz. Jason is also survived by his best friend, Cooper Craig.

Jason was a 2024 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He had previously attended Waynesfield-Goshen High School and received his welding certificate from Apollo Vocational School. Jason was a hard working young man, previously worked at Great Dane Welding and Cooper Tire Recycling. He was mechanically inclined and a self-taught carpenter. 

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper, enjoying all aspects of the great outdoors. Jason was a loyal friend to many, having a smile that lit up the room. He was empathetic to those in need and found joy in helping others. Most of all, he was an amazing big brother to Jesse, sharing his wisdom of life and his knowledge of everything he had learned.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, from noon until 6 p.m. at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services. His services will be at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Logan County United Way, 653 S Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
