Janet Kay Spain, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 24, 2023, at her home. She was born in Seneca, Ohio on March 30, 1939, a daughter of the late Allen Eugene Schultz and Mildred Lucille (Meisner) Schultz.
On January 19, 1965, Janet married Lawrence Eugene Spain in Bellefontaine, Ohio and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerald “Jerry” Eugene Spain.
Janet is survived by her three daughters, Lisa (Dwight) Spain Collier, JoEtta (Jeff Payne) Spain, and Michelle (Nidia Hayes) Spain; two granddaughters, Courtney (Danny) Collier Rosenberg, and Brittany Collier; a brother, James (Nedra) Schultz, and several nieces and nephews.
In her earlier years, Janet had worked for Vicario’s Shoe Store and later as a loan officer at Farm Credit Services, both in Bellefontaine. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, where she served with the Martha Circle. She was a member of Kings Daughters and Sons and enjoyed bridge club for most of her life.
A visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Joe Ziraldo will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
